High levels of vulnerability persist in the Sahel. For 2016, 23.5 million people are expected to be food insecure in the region. Of them, at least 6 million people will face severe food insecurity and require urgent life-saving assistance. Acute malnutrition will threaten the lives and development of 5.9 million children under ve years of age.
